Noyce Brothers

The Noyce families have been associated with the Wollombi Valley for over 5 decades following their purchase of the historic Old Byora farm that was first settled in 1823.

Brothers Michael and Phillip Noyce grew up in the wine growing region of Griffith in the Riverina area of New South Wales and developed an interest in viticulture and wine science at an early age, particularly through their father Bill who was one of the earlier Presidents of the Griffith Wine and Food Society.

Michael practiced as a lawyer for many years and led his business to achieve national recognition and a number of Australian Business Excellence Awards. As well as legal qualifications he has a Master of Business Administration and is a former Chairman, CEO and director of an innovative and pioneering internet based public company. In the 1970’s Michael was also the owner of the well known Wollombi Tavern which he purchased from Mel Jurd, the creator of Dr Jurd’s Jungle Juice.

Phillip has been directing films since the age of 17 and is now one of Australia’s foremost film directors. He has won many Awards starting with Newsfront in 1979 and the most recent being the AFI Best Film Award for his stolen generations story Rabbit Proof Fence. His other well known films include Dead Calm, Clear and Present Danger, and The Quiet American.
